Week 4 Blog


This week chapter when into alot of detail covering the different types of cables and storage networking devices that are used connect to networks anywhere from home or work. 2 types of cables that seemed to commonly used in the networking world are optical and copper cables.  Optical cable is a higher end type of cable that uses thin layer of glass that uses light that can transmit multiple pieces of data at the same time without, radio or electromagnetic interference. Copper cable is a twisted -pair copper that used a categorized by classes from CAT 5 to CAT 6a. These types of  cabling are made up of twisted pair can give give ranges of voice and data up to 10 Gbps. Storage Network device uses hardware such as network adapters, network interface cards switches, and router to connect various storage devices and storage arrays  to communicate and process request from the host with optimum speed while communicating with servers and storage devices.

Week 3 Blog

Hello,

Well this weeks homework on Fibre Channel storage network & iSCSI storage network was long and interesting subject. I actually had to read the chapter a couple times so I can get an idea on how both storage network technologies operate. I still having  of a hard time with this topic, but that's what learning is all about.  Fibre Channel is a high speed network that performs services that are broken down into classes ranging from 1 thru 6 in order to connect servers to data to a storage area network (SAN).  It uses 3 types of topologies to define how devices are connected to each other. Point-to-Point topology is a connection between two devices can connect  over a distance of 1,000 meters, Another topology is a Abitrated Loop,  connects multiple devices together using chain like formation that connects to form a unbroken circle that communicates in one direction, and Switched Fabric, where devices and components pass data through each other with the help of switches.  iSCSI Storage network is a protocol that lets you send  data long distances over an IP network using SCISI commands. you can use a  virtual Area Network (VLAN) or ethernet switching to minimize additional cost of purchasing additional device for data throughout the network.

"Week 2 Blog Entry"



Week 2 assignment on different types of storage was a very interesting topic. I never knew that there were differences between storage arrays, network attached storage,and storage area networks. I always thought data storage was just storage. This week I learned that storage area networks (SAN) are used connect multiple devices to multiple storage arrays, when connecting a storage array to one or more devices, it can communicate with other storage devices within the network.There are 2 types of arrays that are used single and dual  A network attached storage (NAS) is used as a main storage hub for devices on the network to share files from that specified location with the ability to retrieve data and store data.

Blog Introuction

Hello,

This my second time attempting to do a Blog for another class.  Hopefully in the next several weeks my blogging will improve as I get a better understanding of the course, and how disk storage systems and their components operate. I have some experience with working on my own personal computers, but I never really understood the whole aspect about what Redundant Array of Independent Disk (RAID) was or how it worked, but I am looking forward to learning more about Data Storage Technologies this semester.

Week 12 Final Post

Well this the last week in our class Cloud Computing. In the last 11 weeks I learn alot of things about how the cloud works from cloud models,  cloud technologies, Cloud Infrastructure to Security and Future of the cloud.   Every week I try to write on different subjects we were learning in the class that week. I choice to talk about these topics because alot it had to do with what everyone uses everyday, information, data, security and networking. These resources are in either at home or in at your place at work in various amounts pending on where you work.  To me each chapter in the book broke down each topic in a very easy fashion that made it easy to understand what was going on in each subject matter.  Even though each topic was different in nature, but it all related to cloud computing in some form that was being used as we speak. I felt writing blogs every week did help me learn more about the subject that we were learning, plus it gave a me a over all view  on how cloud computing works no matter where you work or live.  One thing I learned is that you have to read the material and make sure when you research information about cloud computing that your using sites that are valid, and you get something out of the article. Another lesson learned is that if you end up doing group projects, make sure all of you are working together to get everything done on time, and make sure you all contribute the same amount of effort.

Week 11 Blog

Well were in week 11 and were getting to the home stretch toward the end of this class.  This week assignment has been a pretty good one so  far. Learning about security risk within the cloud makes you think of how so many organizations might not realize the risk of having potential identity threats and vulnerabilities within their information systems can be cause by either human or environmental. Eveyday you see on the internet some group is always trying to hack into a major companies to get information. This is why organizations need to make sure that they have a good security protocol that can mitigate incoming attacks before they reach critical areas.

Week 10

This week homework pertaining to Cloud Service Management understanding ITIL was a very good subject. Learning how organizations are trying to implement this type of system to improve proficiency within their infrastructure big or small shows you how some companies will learn to adapt to new ways to be ahead of companies to future their expansion and services. But their will be companies out their who will not be ready to make that step because of cost and not be able to have to resources to maintain the services that will be provided.
